"Singapore shines with world class music and arts" - Channel News Asia
The Jazz Djogets (TJD) is a Singapore-based sextet who plays a mix of Malay, Indonesian, English, Brazilian, Japanese music and some of the finest jazz standards and beyond.
The idea and inception of the group came when frontman Rudy Djoe, the ‘gila Japanese jazz pianist’ Aya Sekine and Namie Rasman, the soon to be next Saloma, had a post-event ‘makan’ session in the heart of Kampong Glam, followed by even more brain storming while sipping on ginger tea and teh tarik – the rest is history!
TJD presents to you whatever they find is extremely ‘groovy’, undiscovered hits from the 50’s - 70’s, inspirations by Jazz, Funk, Soul, Malay Pop Yeh Yeh, Japanese City Pop, Dangdut and anything djogetable (danceable).
Featuring some of the most outrageously talented musicians in the region, it’s going to be a load of organised mess, wrongly appropriated songs live with plenty of musical accidents.
All groovy Because Jazz Boleh Djoget!
