Read Bridge Dulcimer (Ivan Ng)

Sunday 11th November

The Appalachian Dulcimer is an instrument native to the eastern region of the United States surrounding the Appalachian Mountains. The instrument has a history of more than 200 years and is most commonly heard in bluegrass and old-time music, also known as mountain music.

Join Ivan as he performs a mixture of old time American and Irish tunes on a Sunday evening.

Inspired by American singer-songwriter Cyndi Lauper, Ivan Ng began self-learning the Dulcimer at the age of 15 after watching the singer’s acoustic version of “Time After Time” – which featured the unusual looking instrument. A hobby turned serious, Ivan began busking along Clarke Quay Read Bridge in 2008 and has since performed at various venues including the Esplanade, Sentosa and The Arts House.
